Solution to "Booked for Murder"

"Since Cameron McCree died so quickly," J.J. Legendre told Lt. Abadie, "the killer must still have been there to see him grab his book. If the killer had thought the book to be in any way incriminating, it would have wound up back on the shelf. So the killer was not someone connected to the book. That eliminates both Tina McCree and Lloyd Chenovet, who were part of its dedication. It also eliminates Stephen Page, since his name has an obvious connection to any book."

"If the book doesn't point to the murderer," Abadie asked, "why did McCree bother to grab it?"

"It points to the murderer, all right," J.J. said. "It points to Dr. Ordway, who was probably going to be the subject of McCree's next expose."

"I still don't get it," Abadie said, ignoring the therapist's protests.

"Neither did Dr. Ordway," J.J. said, looking at the infuriated woman. "When she saw 'The Rapist' lying on the floor, she didn't realize what its title would spell if the two words ran together."
