Padres' Blanco placed on DL with hamstring injury

Jul 5th, 2009 | SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Padres placed catcher Henry Blanco on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a strained right hamstring.

Blanco suffered the injury during Saturday's 7-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Blanco is hitting .218 with four home runs and 10 RBIs in 38 games.

San Diego selected the contract of rookie catcher Jose Lobaton from Triple-A Portland to replace Blanco. It marks the first time Lobaton has been on a major league roster. Lobaton hit .250 with three homers and eight RBIs in 38 games with the Beavers.
