Global problems, Africa and the pope all figure in President Barack Obama's day.
He's in Italy, where the three-day G-8 summit on climate change and the economy is wrapping up. Obama and leaders of the other industrial powers meet with African leaders, beginning with a working breakfast.
Later, Obama plans one-on-one talks with South Africa's president and then holds a news conference before heading to the Vatican. There the first family will have an audience with Pope Benedict.
Afterward, the Obamas head to Ghana for a daylong visit before returning to Washington.
