This 1973 video about venereal disease was produced by Disney to educate young persons on the pitfalls of unprotected sex. Told from the point of view of a germ itself in a military setting it's actually somewhat progressive for its time, with open discussion of same-sex activity and the importance of condoms, as A/V Geeks curator Skip Elsheimer explains in this thoughtful article. (Elsheimer also gives us key trivia, such as the fact that the Sergeant of the "Contagion Corps" is played by Keenan Wynn, probably best known for his role as Colonel Bat Guano in "Dr. Strangelove.") Still, the anthropomorphized syphilis and gonorrhea viruses are easily the best part.

We know we promised: No more "Brokeback" parodies. But too bad -- one more. What's appealing about this one is that it isn't a joke; it's revelatory. Any young "Tom and Jerry" fan always suspected that there was a lot of subtext, as our grade-school pals would say, in that cartoon.
