Occupy Valentine’s Day

From a "Parks and Rec"-inspired holiday to Quirkyalone Day, the "romantic-industrial complex" is under attack

A man and a woman are lying in bed under the covers, both of them beaming. She’s holding a handwritten sign that reads in part, “F–k a dozen roses.”

It’s one of several photos on the website Occupy Valentine’s Day, which applies the ethos of the anti-Wall Street movement to the consumerism of cupid’s holiday — and it’s just the latest attempt at creating an alternative celebration. “I think we need a new and different type of analysis around relationships,” says Samhita Mukhopadhyay, the site’s creator and author of “Outdated: Why Dating Is Ruining Your Love Life.” “This is not about being anti-love, but instead anti the unfair structures that force us to love a certain way.”

Porn’s taboo transsexual stars

"T-girls" are fighting for respect in the adult biz. What does it mean for the general acceptance of trans women?

Transsexuals in porn

Topics:

Brittany St. Jordan, a 28-year-old leggy redhead in a plunging gold number, was all dressed up with somewhere to go: the Adult Video News Awards, the so-called “Oscars for the porn industry.” But she ended up standing in line for three hours waiting to walk the red carpet, as other female performers were sent ahead. When she finally got her turn, event organizers directed her away from interviews with the press.

St. Jordan had an idea of why: Unlike the ladies who were sent right in, she’s a transsexual woman.

She called me a “manwhore”

When he dumped his ex, she told everyone that he was easy. Now he wants to know: Can a man be "slut-shamed"?

Am I normal

You know this contemptible practice of “slut-shaming”? Well, I was wondering if it was possible for it to be done in reverse to a man. Or if there is a different terminology?

I was with a girl once and she ended up cheating on me, so I ended things. That made her a little bent out of shape. She told her friends I was a manwhore, and even shared pictures we’d made together. Now, they were flattering, but I still felt that it was a) a total betrayal of trust, and b) even if complimentary, the implication given was still I was easily acquired and of loose moral standing.

The (real) secret to hot sex

It has little to do with the body and everything to do with the mind. A sex therapist shares what he's learned

Marty Klein

Looking for the hot new position that will transform your sex life? The bedroom technique that will bring ultimate satisfaction? Look no further.

Not that sex therapist Marty Klein is actually selling any of those things — but his new book, “Sexual Intelligence: What We Really Want From Sex and How to Get It,” offers something better: an alternative to chasing that erotic mirage. His message is antithetical to the sex advice found everywhere from self-help books to the supermarket checkout line: The secret to a fulfilling sex life is mental, not physical.

Porn is coming for your daughter!

"Nightline" warns of the "deeply disturbing" trend of teen girls watching porn, all thanks to performer James Deen

Picture 10

Last night’s “Nightline” segment on porn star James Deen and his legions of underage female fans is the finest piece of parental scaremongering that I’ve seen in some time. (Well, at least since Caitlin Flanagan’s Sunday New York Times article on the scourge of “hysteria” among adolescent girls.)

It’s the pits

A middle-aged man says he "can be sexually aroused" by women's shaved underarms. Our experts sniff at his kink

Topics:

I am a man in my mid-50s, largely very mainstream in my sexual preferences, except for one thing. I have become aware quite by accident over the past 20 years that I can be sexually aroused by the sight of a woman’s uncovered, clean-shaven underarms.

I know I’m not alone, since there are a number of fetish websites that cater to this attraction. Besides, why else would so many photographers, shooting everything from pinups to swimsuits to nudes, pose their models with their arms over their heads and their underarms exposed?
