After Donald Trump's D-list celebrity surrogates opened the first night of the Republican National Convention on Monday, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee made an unusual appearance inside the Quicken Loans Arena to introduce the night's keynote speaker on "Make America Safe Again" night, his wife Melania.
With Queen’s “We Are the Champions” booming from the speakers, Trump's silhouette made its dramatic appearance behind a backlight smokescreen.
“We’re going to win so big,” Trump went on to say during a terse introduction of his wife.
"If you want someone to fight for you and your country, I can assure you, he is the guy," his Slovenian born wife told the crowd in her longest comments of the campaign season.
Still, for at least the second time during the night, Trump upstaged a major address by a woman at the RNC. (Trump inexplicably called into to Fox News' "O'Reilly Factor" during the emotionally charged speech of the mother of a Marine killed in Benghazi -- a major focus for night one of the convention.)
