Speaking during a frequently weird Friday afternoon CPAC panel on whether social conservatives and libertarians can find common cause (spoiler from the last 40-plus years of American politics: yes, they can) right-wing radio host Michael Medved made a real head-scratcher of a statement, claiming it to be "a liberal lie" that dozens of states in the U.S. have banned same-sex marriage.
"There has never been a state in this country that has ever banned gay marriage," Medved authoritatively declared. "That is a liberal lie."
It's not entirely — or, more accurately, remotely — clear what Medved was trying to say. But considering he made his remark on the same day that a CPAC speaker compared the first African-American president in U.S. history to one of history's most infamous segregationists, Medved's remark was, in its way, entirely appropriate.
And just in case you were wondering, here's a list of 30 states that have been hoodwinked by yet another liberal lie.
