Must-see morning clip: Jon Stewart calls Vladimir Putin “a semi-delusional autocrat”

Jon Stewart is tired of the Russian leader's "bullsh*t"

Russian president and “strong man” Vladimir Putin continues to deny that Russian troops have invaded Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula — a fact that endlessly amuses “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart. In a recent conference, Putin told reporters that the troops are “local self-defense units,” and suggested that the soldiers bought Russian uniforms at stores.

Stewart, using his finely honed bullshit detector/human brain, said, “Right, but I’m not sure you can go to the store and buy 10,000 of them. Or have that store throw in some Russian tanks … or are those just part of Crimea’s new CitiTanks program?”

In the following segment, Stewart delivered a scathing and pithy assessment of the leader: “Much of the world sees Putin now for what he is,” he began, “a semi-delusional autocrat who views the dissolution of the Soviet Union as one of the greatest tragedies of the late 20th century, and has confused his own geopolitical propaganda for reality. I mean, who would be fooled by this guy’s bullshit?”
