During the Wednesday edition of his popular radio show, right-wing commentator and provocateur Rush Limbaugh implied that the criticism being directed toward former NFL star Ray Rice for knocking his partner unconscious was getting ridiculous.

"Are we getting to the point we're going to have to execute Ray Rice during halftime of an NFL game, folks?" Limbaugh asked. Continuing, with increasing energy, Limbaugh said, "This is becoming — this is exactly ... this is exactly what happens when you try to appease every malcontent group out there; and I'm talking about the NFL leadership."

In a seeming attempt to argue that the PR disaster currently engulfing the NFL due to its initially giving Rice a mere 2-game suspension is a consequence of political correctness, Limbaugh said, "Everybody's bending over backwards, here, to make sure nobody gets offended, everybody's assumed to be treated with respect, all these different groups..."

Suddenly pivoting to media criticism, Limbaugh then bemoaned that "the new Walter Cronkite of this country, Harvy Levin of TMZ, is out basically calling [NFL Commissioner Roger] Goodell a liar!" These are the horrors a successful organization like the NFL courts when it tried to live by the mandates of political correctness, Limbaugh suggested.

"Anyway," Limbaugh later added, "that [story] is just continuing to just blow up all over the place!"
