A study released earlier this month from Women In Film and the Sundance Institute reminded the world, yet again, of the scarcity of female representation within the entertainment industry. It found that men outnumbered women 23-to-1 as directors of the 1,300 top-grossing films since 2002. The study also went on to find that many of the old stereotypes that women once faced are still very much built into the contemporary marketplace -- "deep-rooted presumptions from the film industry about their creative qualifications, sensibilities, tendencies and ambitions," Cathy Schulman, president of WIFL, added with her findings.

Which is all to say: It's about time the Internet finally has a designated space for anyone who identifies as a female to anonymously submit the terrible, and completely real, sexist comments they've encountered while navigating the world of Hollywood. The Tumblr page "Shit People Say To Women Directors" does just that, serving as a catalog of evidence for sexism-deniers and as a much-needed reminder of how old stereotypes are still lingering in the year 2015. No need for a Sundance Institute report to arrive at this conclusion -- just look at some of the anonymous Tumblr submissions below:
