David Letterman is in the home stretch now. Come May 20, he will be a retired man -- not a dead man, just a retired one. Comic actor Martin Short joined the show Wednesday night with a song for Letterman which he told the late night host was actually intended for his funeral.

But why should only dead people get to rest in peace? Short's funeral song holds up for all occasions.

“I’ve had this number prepared from some time,” Short said before serenading Letterman with the goofy funeral number. "Farewell, we’ll meet again, someday in hell” he says as a "REST IN PEACE DAVE" sign appears behind him.
