Although the Supreme Court is reaching the end of its term, the court still has a number of rulings it has yet to deliver. So, for the remainder of the term, the court will no longer release rulings just on Mondays (as is typical), instead, the court will now hand out rulings on Mondays and Thursdays. Among some relatively minor cases (one involves a patent surrounding a spidey-blaster toy), we are waiting to hear the court's ruling on the legality of lethal injection, the legality of a key clause of the Affordable Care Act as well as a case that could force states to recognize the legality of same-sex marriage.

On Tuesday's edition of "The Rachel Maddow Show," host Rachel Maddow offered a primer on some of the cases up for decision. She also questioned why Ruth Bader Ginsburg was in such a good mood at a public event on Saturday.

"You guys, she smiled! Ruth Bader Ginsburg seemed happy," Maddow said. "Does that mean gay marriage is about to be legal coast to coast? Does that mean millions of people will get to keep their healthcare?"
