A man drowned in Demi Moore’s backyard pool in Los Angeles on Sunday morning, CNN reports.

The man has been identified as Edenilson Steven Valle, a 21-year-old Los Angeles man. According to authorities, he was found floating in the deep end of Moore’s pool on Sunday morning and paramedics were unable to revive him. According to friends and family members, Valle did not know how to swim.

According to TMZ, Moore's caretaker had thrown a small gathering on Saturday night, although police officer Matthew Jones told CNN "who threw the party, we do not know at this time." Police said that Moore and her family members were not home when the accident occurred.

“I am in absolute shock. I was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got the devastating news,” Moore said in a statement. "The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy and my heart goes out to this young man’s family and friends. I ask that you please respect the privacy of all concerned during this sensitive time.”
