A first trailer for Tom Hooper's long-anticipated transgender love story "The Danish Girl," dropped today.

Riding on the success of his last Oscar-winning transformation into "The Theory of Everything's" Stephen Hawking, Eddie Redmayne plays artist Lili Elbe, the first transgender woman to undergo successful sex-reassignment surgery. The film is based on David Ebershoff's historical novel of the same name, a fictionalized account of Elbe (born Einar Wegener)'s transition in the 1920s. Alicia Vikander (of "Ex Machina") stars in the film as Elbe's wife, alongside Ben Whishaw, Amber Heard and Sebastian Koch.

"The Danish Girl" is slated for limited release Nov. 27 and wide release in December.
