Salon's Sophia Tesfaye reported yesterday on the alleged assault of Breitbart's Michelle Forbes by Donald Trump's campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, on Tuesday.

According to Forbes, she attempted to ask a question on behalf of her pro-Trump organization when Lewandowski "grabbed her arm and yanked her out of the way." Forbes published a lengthy account of the incident, but because we now live in an age in which even even Mitt Romney is wont to say, "Pics or it didn't happen," not even other Breitbart staffers were inclined to believe her.

For his part, Lewandowski had the Trump campaign issue a strongly worded denial, insisting that Forbes simply wanted "to become part of the news story," even though "[t]his individual has never met Corey, nor had the only reporter that supposedly identified him. There are often large crowds aggressively seeking access to Mr. Trump and our staff would never do anything to harm another individual, while at the same time understanding that Mr. Trump and his personal space should never be invaded."

Instead of allowing the controversy to fall into the memory hole that consumes all of Trump's many, many killing foibles -- most of which would have murdered the aspirations of lesser candidates -- Lewandowski took to Twitter again in the wee hours of the morning:
