"Late Night" host Seth Meyers last night paid moving tribute to the late Garry Shandling, who passed away Thursday at the age of 66.

"I never had the chance to know him," Meyers said, "but I've heard he was a great guy."

Meyers recalled that within the Chicago improv community, everyone knew that fellow SNL-alum Jason Sudeikis had "The Larry Sanders Show" on VHS, "and that was a big deal back then."

"You wanted to be friends with the guy who had the VHS tapes of 'The Larry Sanders Show,' because none of us could afford HBO," he added. "We were lucky to have a VCR."

Meyers recommended "everyone go back and watch that show."

"If there's any good that can come out of it," he said, "it would be the rediscovery of what really, truly was a classic."
