Pro-tip: If you're a woman who wants to live a long and happy life, avoid men. Period.

This isn't my advice; it comes from Jessie Gallan, a 109-year-old woman who celebrated her birthday earlier this month. Gallan, who is the oldest living woman in Scotland, recently sat down with the Daily Mail to discuss the key to her longevity, and the key is, basically: stay fit and stay away from men.

"My secret to a long life has been staying away from men. They're just more trouble than they're worth," Gallan said. "I also made sure that I got plenty of exercise, eat a nice warm bowl of porridge every morning and have never gotten married."

The centenarian also described her long life of working hard with few vacations, and how working "good jobs with very nice people" might have contributed to her longevity. But she really might be onto something with her urgings to stay away from menfolk; it's something she has in common with another of the world's oldest women. As the Huffington Post points out, Misao Okawa -- the oldest person in the world at age 116 -- became a widow in 1931, and has remained single for 83 years.

So, there you have it. Misandry for the win.
