Kendrick Lamar made history by being the first hip-hop artist ever to receive the prestigious Pulitzer award. The 30-year-old rapper was recognized for his critically acclaimed 2017 album "Damn," a collection of songs that document love, family, religion, sexuality and financial fears against the backdrop of being black in America.
