Will Democrats who ran against Nancy Pelosi find new House leadership?
What is the future for Nancy Pelosi? Salon's Amanda Marcotte and Dean Obeidallah analyze Pelosi's fate in Congress following midterms pickups for Democrats and how it will set the tone for Washington. And it's a big concern, considering Democratic candidates who've been candid on the campaign trail when asked about Pelosi's leadership. But, Marcotte explains, it's typically moderate Democrats who oppose Pelosi.
"There's always been more conservative Democrats who say they're not gonna vote for Nancy Pelosi in a leadership role to sort of appeal to their swing districts," Marcotte said. "I've never seen people come at her from the left before."
While Marcotte predicts Pelosi will take the House speaker role, considering that most of her opponents will be "a bunch of 40-year-old white guys to her right," Obeidallah is not so much concerned about who takes on the role, but that it's beneficial for Democrats in the upcoming presidential election.
Watch the video above to hear Marcotte's prediction of "massive investigations" into Trump under a Democratic House. And check out Salon's D. Watkins and Democratic analyst Wendy Osefo break down the key takeaways from the 2018 midterm elections.
