Number one NYT bestselling author Harlan Coben, who has sold millions of his page-turning thrillers, is giving his books new life by stepping into the producer role for TV and film adaptations.

Coben is currently adapting 14 of his 31 novels for Netflix into series and movies, including his latest twisty thriller, "Run Away," available now. Coben previously collaborated with Netflix for the series "Safe," based on his book and starring Michael C. Hall.

In some cases, the film projects are spin-offs where major details are changed, but Coben sees that as an asset. "'The Stranger,' which we're now filming in England, when I wrote it several years ago, 'The Stranger' was a white male computer nerd. I was like that's a little hackneyed now. So, instead, it is a female person of color, young, and she's great, Hannah John-Kamen. It just adds a new dimension. It makes the story more interesting."

He added, "It's been really kind of fun to work with people who really see the book very differently than I do."
