Daily Download: "Yesterduh," Brian Joseph Davis

Canadian artist Brian Joseph Davis was last featured on Audiofile for his "Minima Moralia" EP of quotes from Theodore Adorno performed as agitprop punk. For his latest project, "Yesterduh," passersby were stopped and asked to sing the most covered song in music history, the Beatles' "Yesterday," with a backing track to remind them of the melody, but no help on the lyrics. The results, including a remix by the great Japanese tape artist Aki Onda, are posted here. The track posted above is "a mix featuring 60 layered individual tracks of people trying to remember the words to 'Yesterday,'" with an oddly haunting opening that dissolves into mirth as soon as words are introduced.
