Disgraced former New Yorker scribe Jonah Lehrer may be down, but he can at least count on his friend Malcolm Gladwell to lend a helping hand while the rest of the world just stands there, grinning.

On Thursday, the best-selling author and New Yorker writer tweeted out a link to Lehrer's new blog, making clear that he was standing behind his former colleague, despite Lehrer's well-documented history of self-plagiarizing and fabricating quotes.

"Jonah Lehrer is back with a new blog," Gladwell tweeted. "It is well worth reading. Welcome back Jonah."

In the first post at his new blog, Lehrer writes that the site is intended to "be a small step towards regaining the trust of my readers." In the interest of building that trust, Lehrer notes that, "when possible, all material will be sent to the relevant researchers for their approval."

"If that’s not possible," Lehrer continues, "an independent fact-checker will review it."
