Actor George Clooney, who famously serial dated, and shunned marriage, is allegedly engaged to lawyer Amal Alamuddin. According to the Los Angeles Times, Clooney and Alamuddin have been romantically involved since October of last year. Clooney’s first marriage to Talia Balsam ended in 1993, since then he’s been linked to a series of women; his most recent ex-girlfriend is former pro wrestler Stacy Keibler.

The Academy Award-winning actor has also said that he won’t be joining Twitter any time soon — and he doesn’t think that buddies Brad Pitt or Matt Damon will either. Regardless of his absence from the social media site, Twitter exploded with the news that Clooney and Alamuddin allegedly got engaged. Some were heartbroken, while others wondered how long the engagement would last. Here are nine of the best reactions:
