I'm a big fan of the Nintendo Wii, and as a woman, I'm not alone. The game has been a big hit with the coveted female demographic, no small thing considering that marketers have been trying to dip into our pockets for decades now. What do I like about the Nintendo Wii? It's fun. It's social. It's wish fulfillment at its finest: I can totally ace some dude on the tennis court, despite the fact that in real life, tennis balls whizzing toward me make me wince, and my backhand is just pathetic. One of the brilliant facets of the Wii is how it has taken the physical isolation out of gaming. Sure, you can play by yourself, but you can also play with partners, thus offering an elegant solution for that great plague of modern romance -- the video addiction that tears couples apart. I have yet to play the new Wii Fit, but I have already discovered that it is great sport simply watching people do so. No surprise, then, that Gawker reports on a new YouTube trend: Guys filming their girlfriends playing Wii Fit. Ah, how quickly everything devolves into a girlie show. The most popular of these videos, which features a girl in her underwear shaking her hips to Nintendo's Hula Hoop game, has already gotten more than 1 million views. Consider this a striptease for the 21st century -- gaming console + booty shaking + flat-panel television.

So, what to say about this trend? Well, what you and your partner do in the privacy of your own home is up to you. But as always, kids, I suggest putting away the video camera and, like, making out.
