It took a while, but John McCain and Barack Obama have finally agreed to their first joint appearance. And it only took a man of God to get them to do it.

The two men will appear together on Aug. 16, at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Calif. Saddleback is the megachurch home of the Rev. Rick Warren, the author of "The Purpose-Driven Life." Warren reportedly called both men personally to get them to agree to attend the event.

McCain and Obama will be onstage together only for a moment; after that, Warren will speak with them each individually.
