Ohio GOP Rep. Paul Gillmor was found dead in his Washington apartment this morning by staffers concerned when he didn't show up for work.

Gillmor has been a staunch defender of the president's war in Iraq. After he voted earlier this year to uphold Bush's veto of legislation that tied supplemental funding for the war to a timeline for ending it, Gillmor attacked Democrats for trying to "prove to the liberal wing of their party that they had a plan for retreat on the Global War on Terror."

Gillmor won reelection over Democrat Robin Weirauch by a margin of 57 percent to 43 percent in November. Republicans will now have to defend Gillmor's seat in a special election.
