Can a Presidential Medal of Freedom be far behind?

As Raw Story reports, House Speaker Dennis Hastert and Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi are presenting Congressional Distinguished Service Awards today to honor former members of the House who have performed their duties with “such extraordinary distinction and selfless dedication as to merit special recognition.”

Pelosi’s nominees: Lindy Boggs, who represented Louisiana in Congress before becoming the U.S. ambassador to the Vatican, and Robert Drinan, a Catholic priest who introduced the first impeachment resolution against Richard Nixon as a member of Congress from Massachusetts then went on to become a professor of law at Georgetown University.

Hastert’s nominees: Ousted CIA Director Porter Goss and Vice President Dick Cheney.
