Salon's Walter Shapiro said this morning that Democrats will be "heading for an epic House sweep" if they pick up three GOP-held seats in Indiana, at least one in Kentucky, one in New Hampshire, one in Virginia and three in Ohio.

How are things looking now? In Indiana, Democrats have won two out of three and seem to be on their way to winning a third. Kentucky? Democrats have picked up a seat. In New Hampshire, Democratic challenger Paul Hodes is running far ahead of GOP incumbent Charlie Bass, and out-spent Democratic challenger Carol Shea-Porter is effectively tied with incumbent Republican Rep. Jeb Bradley.

In Virginia, the Democrats' only real chance for a pickup seems to be fizzling as Phil Kellam trails incumbent Thelma Drake by four percentage points with almost 90 percent of the precincts counted.

In Ohio? That's where all the question marks live. Fox News says Democrat Zach Space will beat Joy Padgett for the seat held until last week by convicted GOP Rep. Bob Ney, but other Ohio Republican incumbents -- including Steve Chabot, Deborah Pryce and Jean Schmidt -- are in races that are still too close to call.

In other House races we're watching closely, Republican Reps. Curt Weldon and Don Sherwood are both headed for defeat in Pennyslvania.
