Romney and Coulter, BFF?
Mitt Romney, who preceded Ann Coulter at CPAC Friday, has said through a spokesman that the conservative pundit made an "offensive remark" when she called John Edwards a "faggot." But if Romney is hoping to get a little distance from Coulter, a backstage video posted at YouTube and picked up by the Hotline isn't going to help. It shows Romney and Coulter looking awfully chummy as they pose for pictures.
While the audio is hard to make out, at one point Coulter tells Romney: "You know, the photo of you and me together is going to become famous when you do something I don't like and I viciously attack you." Romney's response: "Never, that never will happen, never will happen." A little later, Coulter can be heard saying: "You can't get these sectarian wars going with us, we're all Christians." Romney responds, "We're not Sunni and Shia here!"
Two questions we'd like to have answered: Was the video taken before or after Coulter's speech? And had Romney heard the speech -- or been told of what Coulter had said -- before he started yukking it up with her backstage?
