Fred Thompson: Rush is right
Well, it turns out there's one thing Fred Thompson actually knows something about: hypocrisy.
When MoveOn's Petraeus/"Betray Us" ad appeared in the New York Times, Thompson was all over it the very first day. "I understand there's a front page ad that's been taken out by this outfit called MoveOn.org in the New York Times today," Thompson said during a campaign stop. "And it basically accuses our general who's leading our troops in Iraq right now of betraying his own country. This outfit basically, in large part, funds the Democratic Party. I call upon the Democratic Party and all those Democratic contenders for the White House to disavow this libel against this brave American."
So what does Thompson have to say about Rush Limbaugh's "phony soldiers" comment? Well, this: "Congressional Democrats are trying to divert attention from insulting our military leader in Iraq and pandering to the loony left by attacking Rush Limbaugh. He is one of the strongest supporters of our troops, yet Democrats claim he is not being strong enough. I wonder who Gen. Petraeus and his troops think is most supportive."
