RNC candidate Dawson: I'll be Dems' "worst nightmare"

South Carolina GOP chairman Katon Dawson says he'll "expose" Democrats "for what they're doing to the American public."

Last week, I wrote about why all the candidates in the running to become the next head of the Republican National Committee have flaws that suggest they might not be qualified to bring the party back to power. On Friday, one of those candidates, South Carolina GOP chairman Katon Dawson, did his best to prove me right.

Dawson has posted a new campaign video to YouTube, which can be viewed below. He begins the ad by saying, "I think it's the Republican Party's mission, for the next four years, to expose at every turn what Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid want to do to this country."

The message goes on in a similar vein from there -- it's mostly an attack ad focused on the Democrats. And what's striking about it is how similar it is to the GOP's message over the past couple years, even though it's been a loser for them. Everything about the video, from the tone of it down to the images used, suggests the status quo. If this is how the Republican Party thinks it's going to win back the Mountain West, much less make inroads into New England again, then its future doesn't look very bright.
