About the Speakers:
Simon Winchester is a Salon.com Travel Contributing Editor, writer, adventurer and best-selling author. In addition to his articles for Salon.com, Simon also writes for Condi Nast Traveler, Smithsonian, The Guardian and numerous other publications. His new book is "The Fracture Zone: A Return to the Balkans." In addition to "The Professor and the Madman," which has become a best-seller on four continents, his books include "The River at the Center of the World," "The Sun Never Sets," "Korea: A Walk Through the Land of Miracles" and "Pacific Rising."
Don George is Salon.com's Travel Editor. He has visited more than 55 countries and published more than 500 articles in his two decades of travel writing and editing. Don joined Salon and founded Salon.com's award-winning Travel site in early 1997. Before that time, he was Travel Editor at the San Francisco Examiner & Chronicle for 10 years. Don's world-wandering began when he graduated from Princeton and took a job as a translator in Paris. In subsequent years he worked as an English professor in Athens and a national talk show host in Tokyo. Don lectures frequently around the world and appears often on television and radio shows as a travel expert. He is the editor of "Travelers' Tales: Japan" and co-founder and chairman of the annual Book Passage Travel Writers Conference.
