On Friends (8 p.m., NBC), a joke of Ross' is published in Playboy, but Chandler claims Ross stole it from him. Sam gets a shot at producing a segment on a local TV show, but only if she uses Brooke as the on-air talent, on Popular (8 p.m., WB). Frasier goes characteristically overboard when he's given the chance to write an opening theme song for his radio show on Frasier (9 p.m., NBC). Mystery! (check local times, PBS) begins the first of three new "Touching Evil" thrillers, starring Robson Green as brooding Deputy Inspector Dave Creegan. On ER (10 p.m., NBC), Greene tries to intervene when he suspects abuse in a gay couple's relationship.
