AIDS and AZT

"Coke dealers use giveaways, too"

Are drug companies discounting AIDS medications out of compassion, or as part of a sales push into a "difficult" market? The latter, I argue. Coke dealers use giveaways, too. Rampant heterosexual AIDS never materialized in the West, and AIDS mortality was declining here before "miracle" AIDS meds arrived, mostly because the dosage of AZT had been cut by a third. Time to try AZT on a new, less savvy market.
