Rachel hires herself a hunky executive assistant on Friends (8 p.m., NBC). On Gilmore Girls (8 p.m., WB), Rory tries to study for a big Shakespeare test, but Mom keeps begging for attention. Aptly named new sitcom Cursed (8:30 p.m., NBC) makes its belated debut. Steven Weber stars in a show that has been rewritten and reconceptualized so many times, it's hard to say what exactly it's about. He's a single guy who thinks a date may have put a curse on him. The great Chris Elliott costars. On Will & Grace (9 p.m., NBC), Grace's new design intern (Natasha Lyonne) idolizes Karen. On ER (10 p.m., NBC), Carter befriends a kid with a disability, and a surgeon shortage causes some tense moments in the O.R.

The World Series:
Yankees at Mets, Game 5 (8 p.m., Fox)

Exhibition basketball:
Pistons at Timberwolves (8 p.m., TNT)
Lakers at Suns (10:30 p.m., TNT)

Rangers at Flyers (7 p.m., ESPN2)

Rosie O'Donnell (syndicated) Lara Flynn Boyle, Tom Everett Scott
David Letterman (CBS) Meryl Streep, Natalie Merchant (rerun)
Jay Leno (NBC) Christian Slater, Emeril Lagasse, Foo Fighters
Politically Incorrect (ABC) Shawn Mullins
Conan O'Brien (NBC) Steven Wright, Jonathan Richman
Craig Kilborn (CBS) Famke Janssen, John Spencer (rerun)

All times Eastern unless noted.
