How far will some Republicans go to undermine John Kerry? Today’s Los Angeles Times has a choice example. The Democratic presidential contender, still serving as the junior senator from Massachusetts, has been criticized of late for missing too many votes on the Senate floor due to campaign duties. So Kerry flew back to Washington yesterday to deflect criticism and cast a vote in favor of expanded veterans’ health benefits.

So what does the Senate’s GOP leadership do? Delay the vote for a day, keeping Kerry waiting around the Capitol when he could be out campaigning.
