Seeing red in St. Louis

Published October 8, 2004 7:51PM (EDT)

In the hours before the vice-presidential debate Tuesday, the Democrats distributed "Halliburton Hospitality Bags" to reporters in Cleveland. This afternoon in St. Louis, the hot campaign swag is another Democratic hand-out: rose-colored glasses.

They're paper things, like the 3-D glasses you get at the movies. And they come complete with a kitschy colored flier announcing "W's Amazing Rose-Colored Glasses."

"See 'progress being made everyday!

"Watch as outsourced American jobs turn into profits for your big donors!

"Block out those pesky 45 million Americans without health care!"

The kicker: "Why bother changing your policies when you can just change your outlook."
