Fake news you can depend on

Not that it's terribly surprising, but it's now official: "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart, cable television's rock star of political comedy, has officially endorsed John Kerry for president. From CBS Marketwatch this afternoon:

"Saying 'it looks like Kerry,' Stewart said he expects to vote for Sen. John Kerry for president. 'I'd be stunned if something happened to change my mind,' said the host of the popular Daily Show."

Stewart spoke with New Yorker media critic Ken Auletta at a breakfast in New York on Thursday morning, entertaining an overflow audience at the Bryant Park Grill. War Room was not in attendance, but it sounds like Stewart was serious. As does his assessment of Wednesday night's final presidential debate. "Both men took rhetoric to another level. I was truly blown away," Stewart said, clarifying why President Bush's performance was indeed memorable the third time around. "He wasn't angry Bush from the second debate or retarded Bush from the first debate."
