Kerry campaign bullish on Kerry

The Kerry campaign was feeling bullish about its chances Sunday and seems even more confident today. On the campaign plane a short while ago, Bob Shrum told reporters: "I feel good because I think we're going to win." Shrum said he based his optimism on recent movement in the polls, and he suggested that any optimistic words coming out of the White House may be based on false bravado.

"There's a history associated with that," Shrum said. "I think they believe that saying you're going to win helps you win." Shrum pointed to the Bush campaign's big talk of carrying California four years ago. For what it's worth, Shrum said he doesn't operate that way.
