Jeff Gannon calls it quits

"The voice goes silent." That's the only slightly self-important news today from Jeff Gannon, the pseudonymous reporter for the Talon News Service. Gannon got the attention of the media and, more important, the blogosphere after using his turn at a Bush press conference to ask how the president could work with Democrats "who seem to have divorced themselves from reality."

Things snowballed -- the liberal media conspiracy is like that, Jeff -- and an avalanche of blog investigations quickly buried Gannon. On his Web site today, Gannon says: "Because of the attention being paid to me I find it is no longer possible to effectively be a reporter for Talon News. In consideration of the welfare of me and my family I have decided to return to private life."
