Not so many years ago there was something like a common consensus that Radiohead was the most important band in the world, the one that really mattered. That's not the case anymore, but it's not clear to me who, if anyone, has taken their place. Your thoughts? E-mail me with the subject line "Rule Supreme." Responses containing the word "Wilco" will be immediately deleted. OK, not really. They'll just make me sad.
Oh, and extra credit if you can give me a good explanation of what "important" actually means in this context. Does it mean influential? Good + influential? Or is it just imprecise bullshit critic-speak? (Guilty.)
