Suzanne Vega-style whispered, hazily evocative nostalgia ... in French

More Suzanne Vega-style whispered, hazily evocative nostalgia from Keren Ann, this time sung in French. Her new record, "Nolita," is less intimate, more cinematic than her last one, "Not Going Anywhere." Imagine a sepia-toned shot of Paris on an overcast day (despite the title, the record still feels decidedly Parisian) with Audrey Tatou lurking cutely somewhere to the side of the frame and you've got the basic picture. This music is unassuming, unadventurous, but so good at what it does that it doesn't matter.
