Novak: Sources say Rehnquist is next

As Judith Miller begins her time in jail, the man who outed Valerie Plame is predicting that the chief justice will retire "before the week is over."

Maybe this is useful only as a reminder that Judith Miller is in jail while Robert Novak continues to walk the earth as a free man. Maybe it's something more. But make of it what you will, Novak writes in his Chicago Sun-Times column today that Supreme Court sources -- anonymous ones, of course -- are saying that "ailing Chief Justice William Rehnquist" will announce his retirement "before the week is over."
