George W. Bush just admitted what others in his administration have been denying. Preparing to leave Washington to tour the storm-ravaged Gulf Coast, the president said that “the results” of federal aid efforts “are not acceptable.” Two days back from his vacation and four days after Katrina struck, Bush vowed: “We’ll get on top of this situation. And we’re going to help the people that need help.”
