On their latest record, “Strange Geometry,” the Clientele sound just as they’ve always sounded (which is just how I like them): The ’60s seen through 20/100 vision with tears in your eyes, a wash of chiming guitars with Alisdair MacLean’s double-tracked vocals draped over the top like a pashmina shawl. Opening track “Since K Got Over Me” (available here for free download) is the band at their cleanest and clearest and perhaps most user-friendly, but my favorite track is “(I Can’t Seem to) Make You Mine,” in which they go into slow jam mode and add just a dash of R&B balladry. Divine.
