Afghan women's rights meet bad-hair day

On Yahoo U.K.'s list of Web sites for "ladies," even women in Afghanistan aren't safe.

Christina Ducklow posting on SFGate.com's Culture Blog points out this lovely bit of lunacy from Yahoo! News U.K. The site is recommending 100 Web sites for "lads" and 100 Web sites for "ladies." In the ladies list, Yahoo manages to put a ditzy spin on even the most serious subjects, like this doozy:

"Site: Women in Afghanistan

Why Visit: RAWA is an organisation that fights for freedom and women's rights in Afghanistan. After reading some of these stories, we'll never complain about a bad hair day again. Well, not quite as much."

In Afghanistan, girls as young as 6 are still forced into marriage. Spare us -- and them -- the tasteless, airheaded, bad-hair-day prattle.
