Daily Download: “Lake of Fire Memories,” Nels Cline/Wally Shoup/Chris Corsano

Guitarist Nels Cline has gained newfound fame in recent years as a member of Wilco, but he’s long been a respected presence on the avant-jazz/free improv scene — which is also the home of saxophonist Wally Shoup and drummer Chris Corsano. The opening track from their new disc of free improvisation, “Immolation/Immersion,” is a blast of glorious cacophony, with some thrilling and tense high-altitude dueling between guitar and sax.
