Daily Download: "Postcards From Italy," Beirut

Madly hyped new music from a 19-year-old Brooklynite

The blog buzz on Beirut, the work of 19-year-old Brooklynite Zac Condon, started abruptly and hyperbolically last month and hasn't let up yet. Reviews from the band's first concerts have been mixed, as are my feelings about the whole ukulele/trumpet/gypsy/oompah style he's rocking, but this song sure is a charmer, a breezy Rufus Wainwright-style ditty in the sloppy, happy "Greek Song" mode.
