For the Times, another gutter awaits

If the Clintons' marriage is grist for the mill, why not follow up on a tabloid report about the Bushes?

Quick, can somebody call the New York Times?

If the paper thinks the private married life of a first couple is worthy of a 50-interview, front-page story -- and it clearly does, at least when the couple in question happens to be the Clintons -- then it will surely want to follow up on the story Firedoglake's Jane Hamsher has spotted in a supermarket tabloid in Oklahoma: "George and Laura Bushs marriage has collapsed as his approval ratings plummet and a host of mounting personal problems rip the first couple apart and push them to secretly lead separate lives!"
