The crappy special effects alone are enough to make surfer-girl drama "Beyond the Break" amusingly awful - who knew a teenage girl could ride monster waves that would make Laird Hamilton shake in his shoes? But when you throw in a perpetually shaking camera, chafing Orange County happy-dude rock, and zany scenes apparently lifted straight from Mentos commercials, it all adds up to pure, queasy horror. Prepare to grit your teeth!
